Abstract

The article presents a review of specialized literature and an assessment of empirical studies related to the use of body cameras in law enforcement. Its main objective is to analyze the use and impact of these devices, focusing on their purposes, benefits and challenges in law enforcement. The literature review explores trends, policies and debates related to body cameras, highlighting their theoretically expected advantages and disadvantages. Additionally, the article offers a critical analysis of empirical studies examining the impact of body cameras in areas such as police use of force, anti-police complaints, and police compliance. By organizing and synthesizing existing literature, the article provides a comprehensive overview of the current landscape of body camera use in law enforcement.
